Why Jason Bourne is making people feel sick - but only in China

Film-goers in China are demanding their money back after watching Matt Damon's new movie, Jason Bourne in 3D.

The action adventure flick got a special conversion to the Asian market earlier this week where most 3D films are extremely popular. Around 80 per cent of all Chinese cinemas can show them.

As it turns out though, fast-action movies need even faster editing in three dimensions.

Chinese fans and critics have taken to social media and have started complaining that Jason Bourne 3D is making them feel dizzy and nauseous.

Most people who were keen to see it in 2D couldn't because most cinemas were only showing the 3D version.

"I really felt sick during the fight scenes when I watched it in 3D," posted a user named azooombie on Weibo, a Chinese social media service.

"It was like a low-budget movie. I need to watch again in 2D."

The Beijing office of Universal Studios has said it's working on trying to get more 2D screenings available.

It hasn't been affecting the box office numbers too badly though.

Jason Bourne has brought in around $25 million to China so far.
