'YOU KNOW HOW KIDS ARE'
Nearly a year since Houston died, Cissy sat down with Oprah Winfrey last week to talk about the book, and she admitted that her relationship with Bobbi is strained.
Describing their relationship as "iffy", Cissy told the chat show titan that she only occasionally speaks to her granddaughter.
"Is it true that Bobbi Kristina didn't want you to write this book?" The Big O asked. "That's what I heard," Cissy replied. "I guess somebody telling her something, I don't know who."
She later added, "You know how kids are. She's 19. She thinks she's old. She thinks she knows everything."
Appearing on the Today Show last week, the matriarch said she doesn't blame Whitney's ex-husband Bobby Brown for the singer's death.
"I don't blame him," she said. "I know he didn't help her...[but] everybody's responsible for their own actions up to a point.
"She was raised, she knew better, and whatever took her to that position, I really don't know."
She also dismissed reports that she had a troubled relationship with Whitney.
"We had no troubled relationship - we had a great relationship. I think that good mothers, good fathers, good families don't always have great children," Cissy added.
"Bad people have good children - but it's their responsibility when they get to a certain age to choose their way. She was taught. She knew the way."
She concluded: "I trust in God, and his ways are not our ways. So we have to go with that, and there's nothing I can do about that."
