Icelandic singer Bjork's attack on a NZ Herald photographer is the latest in a long history of incidents in which celebs tussle with photographers trying to snap their picture.
Bjork is well known for her 1996 scuffle with a reporter after a long flight to Thailand, when the woman tried to ask Bjork's son Sindri, then aged 10, a question. Bjork escaped charges after later apologizing to the dazed reporter.
Other victims of celeb skirmishes aren't so accommodating, with many incidents being referred to police:
* British actor Hugh Grant ended up on the wrong side of the law after lobbing a plastic container full of baked beans at a paparazzi photographer in London last year. Grant was arrested but escaped charges over the incident.
* Mouthy British singer Lily Allen had her American work visa temporarily revoked after she was arrested for punching a photographer outside a London club in March last year. She received an official caution from police.
* Despite being overshadowed by her recent troubles, Britney Spears was the instigator of one of the more memorable attacks after she took to a photographer's car window with an umbrella. The singer, bald after taking a razor to her own hair, grew frustrated with photographers after turning up at her ex-husbands home and being denied access to her children. * Former James Bond Pierce Brosnan was sued by a photographer who claimed the actor shoved him and struck him in the chest during a scuffle in a Malibu parking lot. According to TMZ.com, Brosnan was dining with his son when he took offence to the paparazzo's presence. The Irish actor allegedly hissed, "Why don't you f**k off, mate," and then struck Rosen in the ribs. Bystanders who witnessed the incident said Rosen reacted by kicking Brosnan in the stomach.
* Rocker Tommy Lee was given community service and ordered to pay US$17,500 to a photographer who broke his pelvis as he was thrown to the ground by Lee outside an LA nightclub in 1996.
Other stars making headlines for scuffles in recent years include:
* Actress Cameron Diaz, who is well known for taking on the paparazzi during her relationship with singer Justin Timberlake.
* Actor Jude Law who allegedly punched a pap outside his London home and his ex-girlfriend Sienna Miller who has been photographed shouting and shoving paparazzi
* Singer Avril Lavigne and actor Heath Ledger who allegedly spat at photographers in separate incidents.
