Everyone in the world just got a little closer to Kevin Bacon.
The "six degrees of separation" theory was jokingly dubbed "six degrees of Kevin Bacon" in the 90s when the American actor said he'd worked with everyone in Hollywood.
Turns out our collective degrees of separation has shrunk to three-and-a-half degrees, according to number crunchers at Facebook.
"Each person in the world (at least among the 1.59 billion people active on Facebook) is connected to every other person by an average of three and a half other people," the Facebook data team said in a blog post.
They reported the number of people using Facebook has doubled in the past five years, meaning people around the globe are more interconnected than ever.
