Publicity for a retrospective on the works of director David Blyth saw an excerpt from his debut feature film Angel Mine come in at number two. Originally released in 1978, the film was given a mainstream release despite its experimental nature, carrying the special rating R18: "contains punk cult material."
3. The Living Room - Flight of the Conchords
A chance airport encounter between Flight of the Conchords and All Black legend Jonah Lomu saw this 2002 episode of arts series The Living Room take out third place, when it was widely shared in the wake of Lomu's sudden passing in November.
4. All Blacks Profiles - Jerry Collins
The sad loss of another former All Black contributed to the number four spot - this Sky Sports profile of Jerry Collins, filmed prior to the 2007 Rugby World Cup, featured in both local and international media in June.
5. Hugo and Holly
At number five, a classic TV commercial. KFC (or Kentucky Fried Chicken as it was then known)'s much-loved Hugo and Holly ad took many back to the 70s.
At number six, the debut episode of Outrageous Fortune
also got plenty of views in the lead up to Westside. The trailer for Toa Fraser's 2014 feature The Dead Lands remained popular, coming in at number seven as the movie continued to screen internationally. And a perennial NZ On Screen favourite took the number eight spot, the animated adaptation of Hairy Maclary from Donaldson's Dairy.
9. Into Antiquity: A Memory of the Māori Moko
Number nine was a new addition to NZ On Screen this year - the stunning Into Antiquity: A Memory of the Māori Moko. Made in 1972, the documentary explores the world of a dying generation of Māori female elders, dubbed "the last of the Māori women with tattooed chins."
And rounding out the countdown, a topless glimpse of former TV newsreader Angela D'Audney propelled 80s drama Loose Enz - The Venus Touch into tenth place.
