Metservice weather ambassador Bob McDavitt said it would be a wet and blustery weekend as a frontal system moves across the country.
"Saturday doesn't look very nice. It looks a bit wet, there will showers and westerlies. Sunday looks a bit better," he said this morning.
That's bad news for event organisers across the city, as Auckland prepares for a big weekend of outdoor events.
On the North Shore, the Devonport Food, Wine and Music Festival will take place on Saturday and Sunday at Windsor Reserve, while the Cross St Carnival will be held City-side on Saturday afternoon.
Mission Bay plays host to the annual Jazz and Blues Streetfest from 6pm on Saturday night, while Eden Park is expecting big crowds at tomorrow's England v New Zealand day-nighter and Saturday night's Blues v Chiefs Super 14 rugby match.
