Accused gunman appears in Christchurch courts as hearses remove bodies from the scene.

Stars around the world have shared messages of support following the deadly terrorist attacks on two mosques in Christchurch on Friday.

Forty-nine people are dead and more than 40 were injured in the attacks.

New Zealand stars and others abroad shared messages of support on social media, among them Taika Waititi, Reese Witherspoon and John Legend.

"My country is weeping and so am I," wrote Waititi. "I am dying knowing that this kind of hatred can happen in my homeland. All my love goes out to Christchurch, the victims, the families, the Muslim community, and all who have chosen our islands as their home."

My heart is broken. My country is weeping and so am I. I am dying knowing that this kind of hatred can happen in my homeland. All my love goes out to Christchurch, the victims, the families, the Muslim community, and all who have chosen our islands as their home. This is not us.

Canadian singer-songwriter Bryan Adams, who was due to play a now-cancelled Christchurch show at Hagley Park on Sunday, said his "heart goes out to the people of New Zealand".

My ❤️ goes out to all the families of the victims of today’s horrific mass shooting in Christchurch, New Zealand. #christchurchshooting

— Bryan Adams (@bryanadams) March 15, 2019

He said he was cancelling the show "in solidarity with the victims of the mass murder".

In solidarity with the victims of the mass murder yesterday in Christchurch, NZ, our concert scheduled for Sunday at Hagley Park will not go ahead. Tickets will be refunded in full to the card that they were purchased with. info@neptuneentertainment.co.nz for more info.

Actress Mia Farrow directly responded to US President Donald Trump, saying he is "not blameless in this slaughter".

As the President of the United States, one of your first acts was to ban Muslims. Your hateful, anti- Muslim, anti refugee words are heard around the world and can inspire the very worst in humans. You are not blameless in this slaughter

— Mia Farrow (@MiaFarrow) March 15, 2019

Other stars such as comedian Hasan Minhaj, actress Jameela Jamil and actress Laura Dern shared their support.

My heart goes out to the people of New Zealand. There are not enough prayers for such a senseless act of violence. Please know that I am here for you all while you grieve. 🇳🇿🙏🏻

— Reese Witherspoon (@ReeseW) March 15, 2019

The killings in New Zealand are so horrific and heartbreaking. This white supremacist terrorist movement is so destructive here and abroad. We need to unite against it.

— John Legend (@johnlegend) March 15, 2019

I stand with the victims, survivors & all those impacted by the white supremacist mass shooting at mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand.

As news develops around the shooter, deny him the notoriety he craves. Remember the victims. #NoNotoriety @everytown @momsdemand pic.twitter.com/YFUqAhrVI0

— Laura Dern (@LauraDern) March 15, 2019

We struggle to grasp the immense scale of this grotesque #ChristchurchTERRORISTattack .The grotesque white supremacist ideology behind this atrocity, the slaughter of our brothers and sisters. Again to the Muslim community in NZ- we love you and weep with you. #TheyAreUs

40 dead in NZ.
Senseless, pointless, cruel deaths.
My heart breaks for all the families involved, and for the beautiful people of New Zealand to whose hearts this pain will attach, for a long time.
Kia Kaha.

— Russell Crowe (@russellcrowe) March 15, 2019

To the Muslim community— my heart is broken by the horror & loss in New Zealand. We are with you, we see you, and we will fight white supremacy and islamaphobia until we are all free of fear. #ChristchurchMosque

— Debra Messing✍🏻 (@DebraMessing) March 15, 2019

More heartbreaking and enraging news, my deepest sympathy to those lost in another racist bigoted killing in New Zealand

— Mark Ruffalo (@MarkRuffalo) March 15, 2019

🙏🏾 My heart goes out to New Zealand. And to the Muslim community everywhere. Another terrorist attack in a sacred place of worship. Horrifying. Heartbreaking. We must work to end these acts of hatred AND the destructive rhetoric that incites them!

— kerry washington (@kerrywashington) March 15, 2019

White supremacists are terrorists. Sending love and prayers to New Zealand and to the Muslim community.🙏🏾

— Wanda Sykes (@iamwandasykes) March 15, 2019

Words fail us at such times, but New Zealand should know that we weep with them. In whose name and on whose behalf do the brutal perpetrators of this abominable crime believe they are acting? Send messages of love and support to your nearest mosque.

— Stephen Fry (@stephenfry) March 15, 2019

The news about what happened in New Zealand is devastating....heartbreaking—
To the Muslim community at Christchurch & around the world, we are with you....we will keep fighting back with love.

— Christina Aguilera (@xtina) March 15, 2019

Shocked , saddened and disgusted at this abhorrent terrorist attacking unfolding in Christchurch NZ . My heart , thoughts and prayers go out to all families affected.
