We're used to blockbuster movies being filmed here - now it seems the Aussie TV industry wants in on the act.
West Auckland beaches welcomed Packed to the Rafters' star and ex-pat Kiwi Erik Thomson when his fictional family upped sticks and moved from Sydney to a fictional West Auckland beachside community, in the Logie award-winning 800 Words.
Now it looks as though Thomson's Rafters wife, ex-pat Kiwi Rebecca Gibney, is keen to bring the second season of her drama Wanted across the Ditch.
The first season saw Gibney and Geraldine Hakewill as Lola and Chelsea, two women forced to go on the run, Thelma and Louise-style, through Australia after inadvertently being caught up in a deadly carjacking.
Wanted was created by Gibney and her husband, production designer Richard Bell. She said she wanted to create strong female characters who engendered a sense of respect and admiration.
