Classical showman Andre Rieu is waltzing back into town.
The big-selling Dutch violinist and conductor is bringing his latest extravaganza back to Vector Arena in October next year as part of his And The Waltz Goes On tour. It's the only New Zealand date for Rieu, who performed at the same venue in May last year, and comes between shows in Adelaide and Perth as he plays all the state capitals across the Tasman.
Rieu, his 60-piece Johann Strauss orchestra and soloists will perform his waltz-heavy repertoire as well as everything "from famous Viennese operettas to film scores, spirituals to musicals, and from folk songs to marches", says the show publicity.
Rieu's 2011 tour was ranked by Billboard as the ninth-highest grossing of the year - eighth was Lady Gaga - and he's sold more than 30 million CDs and DVDs. The album December Lights and DVD Home for Christmas will be his latest seasonal stocking-stuffers.
Tickets for the Auckland show, on Friday, October 25, 2013, go on sale on November 9.
