E! reporter Giuliana Ranic's Grammys red carpet interview with rapper Lil Uzi Vert lasted for less than a minute — but by the end of their chat, she'd declared it her "favourite interview of the night."
The pair didn't exactly get off to a smooth start, Rancic's high-energy approach hitting a brick wall against the rapper's monosyllabic answers:
Giuliana: What are you feeling tonight?
Lil Uzi Vert: *mumbles inaudibly*
Giuliana: Are you excited about what the night's going to bring? HUGE nominations, by the way.
Lil Uzi Vert: Yep.
Giuliana: Are you feeling lucky?
Lil Uzi Vert: This is my life, so it's like, whatever.
So far, so painful. But Rancic finally piqued Uzi's interest when she asked him how he planned to celebrate if he won a Grammy:
L il Uzi Vert: If I win, Imma just think about everything I'm gonna buy the next day. You know I like to shop, so... shopping. Gaultier just dropped a new collab with Burberry, it's very nice. I gotta get everything," he said, finally displaying some enthusiasm.
And then, the piece de resistance:
Giuliana: What's next for you?
Lil Uzi Vert: Wake up, eat some Pop Tarts.
Perfection. Knowing the interview — and quite possibly her night — had peaked, a beaming Rancic bid Lil Uzi Vert goodbye: "Favourite interview of the night. Lil Uzi, thank you."
