Viewers melt down over The Bachelorette's 'tickle monster'

He could have chosen anything to describe himself: a gardener, clean freak, fitness fanatic, uber driver or, perhaps, a mummy's boy.

But one budding star on the new season of The Bachelorette in the US decided to describe himself a little differently.

When 31-year-old Jonathan met Rachel Lindsay - the first black bachelorette to appear on US TV screens - he described himself as a "tickle monster".

Yes. The show has paired Lindsay, an attorney, with a New Smyrna Beach resident who calls himself a tickle monster.

Apparently, the meaning behind the moniker will be explained later in the season.

But Jonathan's job description quickly swamped the internet, dominating headlines about the show.

And Twitter just couldn't cope with it.

Host Chris Harrison explained that Jonathan isn't actually a professional tickler - he's a doctor.

But the show is trying to have some fun with contestants' descriptions.

"That's kind of what he does, that's his thing," Harrison said.

"We figured we'd have some fun with these labels," he said. "It's not necessarily what they are - it's kind of who they are."

In his biography, Jonathan described himself as "pretty open to most things" when it came to the bedroom.

"I ensure both of us are satisfied. Pretty open to most things. Usually last a long time (in a good way)," he said.

For the record, Lindsay is an attorney. And Jonathan is just one of 31 men vying for her heart on the reality show.
