Colin Mochrie wished his transgender daughter a happy birthday in a touching Facebook post — only for vicious trolls to attack him and his family in response.
The Whose Line Is It Anyway? star, 60, posted a photo of himself with his daughter Kinley and his wife Debra McGrath, 64, earlier this week to mark Kinley's 28th birthday.
Colin first revealed last year, with Kinley's permission, that his daughter is transgender, reports Daily Mail.
He has since been a champion of the transgender community and both he and Kinley have opened up about going through the transition process as a family.
"Happy birthday to my lovely daughter!" Colin wrote next to the photo in a wholesome post. "28 years old and everything we've ever hoped for in a child."
Kinley can be seen in the photo between her two parents, smiling at the camera with an arm around her mother's shoulders. Colin and Debra are pictured on each side of their daughter, both with a smile on their faces.
After Colin posted his message, some people left disparaging, abusive comments below the family snap.
One person wrote "son*" as if to correct the word "daughter", deliberately denying Kinley's gender. Someone else called Colin "bats**t crazy", adding: "Doesn't surprise me that gender dysphoria runs in his family."
One Facebook user left a comment consisting of the word "Ew" next to three green-faced, about-to-be-sick emoji.
"Good that he loves his child but not that he supports a lifestyle of immorality," another person wrote. "Just because people accept it doesn't change the fact it is wrong against nature and God."
Colin addressed the abusive comments in a different Facebook post the next day.
"Thanks to the fans of this page for being supportive and human," he wrote. "To the trolls, my thoughts and prayers to your body for losing its mind and soul so tragically."
Thousands of people also left comments under Colin's original post to praise his supportive attitude, wish Kinley a happy birthday, or say they wish their own families had been as loving and accepting as Colin.
"I'm a trans woman, and today is the first day my mom called me her daughter," one woman wrote. "Thank you for being supportive of your daughter! Supportive parents make all of the difference."
"What a beautiful family. Sending so much love. Happy birthday to your daughter," another person said in a comment. "I already enjoyed your comedy but your support for your daughter just made me absolutely adore you. Thanks for being such an awesome human."
One person sent Kinley birthday wishes, adding: "I love how genuinely happy this picture is. Thank you for not only being awesome on Who's Line, but in your regular life too."
"Much love to you and your beautiful family!" someone else wrote. "Always been a fan, but even more so knowing what a great LGBT supporting dad you are! Thank you for being the embodiment of what real unconditional love looks like!"
In January last year, Colin opened up about having a transgender daughter in a tweet that quickly went viral.
