Unsigned bands get chance to be heard

42 Below and MTV are turning up the volume and giving one band the chance of a lifetime, with their new 42Unheard competition, which launched this week.

Open to any and all unsigned bands, the competition prize pack includes local representation from Universal Music, a music video grant from New Zealand on Air, studio time with professional engineers - and an all-expenses paid trip to New York to perform at the prestigious College Music Journal music marathon. The top 10 finalists, voted for by the public, will also win studio time with professional engineers and appear on a special compilation album due for release next year.
