KEY POINTS:
It's that time of year again when the beer bongs come out, university students try to keep their pants on and the music rocks.
Yes, it's time for the Auckland University and AUT Orientation Festival, which starts on February 19.
This year soulful US punk rockers, the Bellrays, who play a brand of "rock'n'soul", do a show at the Vesbar Marquee on February 28. The band's singer, Lisa Kekaula, is perhaps better known for doing vocals on the Basement Jaxx track Good Luck from 2004's Kish Kash.
The two-week festival ends on March 2 with a concert at the St James headlined by Shapeshifter, singer Hollie Smith and local drum'n'bass terrorists Concord Dawn. Also performing are the Opensouls, dDub, State of Mind, and more.
Other highlights over the fortnight include lunchtime concerts in the Wellesley Quad by the Tutts and Spacifix on February 19 and 20 respectively; plus the Mint Chicks and the Demi Whores on February 21 (Vesbar Marquee, 8pm); Katchafire February 22 (Vesbar Marquee, 8pm) and Concord Dawn and State of Mind February 23 (Vesbar Marquee, 9pm).
