Twin Moas on the way for Anika

Not one, but two bundles of joy are on the way for songstress Anika Moa and her Australian wife Angela Fyfe.

The couple had been attempting to conceive through anonymous sperm donation without success but are now thrilled because Fyfe is pregnant with twins, a close friend has told the Herald on Sunday.

The donor is understood to be Moa's brother and the twins are due in August.

"I imagine it's going to be a huge lifestyle shift for them both," said the friend, who did not want to be named.

But before the twins arrive Moa will be busy, with concerts around New Zealand this month and a work trip to Europe in May.

The couple first met when Moa, now 31, saw Fyfe perform with the dance troupe Burlesque Hour in Melbourne.

They married in a civil union in February last year, celebrating with 150 friends and family at a ceremony in Omapere, Northland.

The couple had been yearning to be mothers. Moa had visited a South American witch doctor to receive a fertility blessing while filming the travel show Intrepid Journeys three years ago.

The couple are in Tasmania at present but Moa will return next week to perform at the Live on the Islands concert in Auckland's Hauraki Gulf.
