The new Bond film is on track to be one of the biggest films of the year - but it's got some catching up to do to eclipse Breaking Dawn Pt. 2, the last of the Twilight saga films.
Skyfall is number one at the New Zealand box office this week, taking almost $1.9m in its opening weekend, although Breaking Dawn opened with a whopping $2.24m.
Also sitting in the way of Daniel Craig's Bond adventure being top of the end of year box office list are The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises which took $2m and $1.97m respectively in their opening weekends.
In the US, on what was a record breaking Thanksgiving box office weekend, Skyfall had to settle for second behind Breaking Dawn, which held the top spot for the second week running, taking US$64m. Bond took US$51m.
