TVNZ stars converged on New Plymouth yesterday for one of the first weddings of the summer as sports presenter Toni Street married longtime boyfriend Matt France, 25.
The couple tied the knot at Fitzroy's Holy Trinity Church, watched by other TV stars including bridesmaid Renee Wright, MC Andrew Saville and weatherman Jim Hickey.
They were married by the Reverend David Quin, a family friend.
Street, 26, wore a traditional white gown while the bridesmaids, including Wright, wore pink satin V-neck dresses.
The couple are New Plymouth locals and returned to the 'Naki from their Auckland home to tie the knot.
Street told the Daily News that France, a halfback who plays for the North Harbour rugby team, popped the question in December 2007 during a picnic at her parents' farm.
"He had written me a poem and at the end it said will you marry me," said the journo, who had her big break reporting from the Beijing Olympics last year.
Street left one crucial aspect of the wedding plans to her husband-to-be - the honeymoon. "I have an idea of where we are going, but I don't know for sure," she said. "I do know we are leaving next week."
