KEY POINTS:
If it was on in prime time on TVNZ on 2008, it's probably back next year, but both TV One and TV2 say they have some new international hits in their 2009 schedules announced this week.
Among them are a couple of shows - Fringe and Eleventh Hour - which share both X-Files science-meets-crime comparisons and big producer kudos.
Fringe is co-created by JJ Abrams of Lost and Alias fame, while Eleventh Hour, is a remake of a British series of the same name by Jerry Bruckheimer Television.
Other key new imported shows in the 2009 line-ups include The Mentalist about a charlatan psychic using his powers of observation to fight crime which stars Simon Baker, last seen on the small screen in The Guardian. As well, there's spawn-of-Satan comedy The Reaper and Sam Neill stars in Crusoe, a new take on Daniel Defoe's classic desert island tale.
Among new local shows are Diplomatic Immunity about a disgraced Foreign Affairs high-flier (Craig Parker), who is sent to baby-sit the staff of the embassy of "Fe'ausi"; Go Girls, about three 25-year-old women facing their "quarter-century crisis"; Birdland presented by Jeremy Wells; South fronted by Marcus Lush and How the Other Half Live hosted by Marc Ellis.
