TVNZ has apologised for spoiling an episode of My Kitchen Rules Australia.

During last night's episode of the cooking competition, TV2 ran a promo for the show's next episode that accidentally revealed events that were yet to happen in the current episode.

"I was really unimpressed," wrote one viewer on the show's Facebook page.

"Whose smart idea was that?" wrote another.

After the complaints, TVNZ took to Facebook to apologise.

The network called it an "accident" and said: "Guys, we're so sorry about last night and we're making sure it won't happen again!"

My Kitchen Rules Australia screens on TV2 on Mondays at 8pm and Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 7.30pm.
