The Simpsons and Family Guy are on the move, with TVNZ announcing the popular animated series will switch channels to TV2 next year.
The news comes as TVNZ announces another major coup - securing the rights to the highly anticipated new reboot of The X-Files, which is tipped to be one of the biggest television events of 2016.
The six-episode series will see David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson return as iconic FBI Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully.
The move is a result of a new deal between TVNZ and Twentieth Century Fox, which will see both new episodes of Family Guy and The Simpsons screen on TV2, along with an extensive back catalogue of older episode.
The deal marks the end of a long-running relationship between Fox and MediaWorks, which had been the New Zealand home of The Simpsons for more than two decades.
