"Will had fallen from a hover board and hit his head."
She did not comment on the circumstances around the fall or reports of his injuries.
It is understood Hine was away from work after the incident but was expected back in the office soon.
"He's got a bit of a sore head but should be fine in a day or so."
St John spokesman Robbie Walker said ambulance staff received the call about 5.30pm and treated one patient with moderate injuries.
Glideboards - also known as airboards or hoverboards - are devices similar to Segways but without the handlebars.
They have become the latest craze, being made popular by international stars like Chris Brown and Justin Bieber, with users having to balance and lean on the boards to get to where they want to go.
Breakfast presenters Peter Williams and Nadine Chalmers-Ross gave the boards a go live on air last month, clutching on to other staff members for support.
"I feel completely and utterly out of control.
"It's seriously freaky," Mr Williams said
Ms Chalmers-Ross agreed: "Why does it want to move forward when I stand on it?"
She has since posted a video of her on a pink glideboard on Tuesday, on the concrete-floored newsroom, with the message: "Just a casual day in the office".
Followers have commented on the post stating she looked like she had improved since the live appearance.
"You're getting to be pretty good on that thing," user maplegretch wrote.
"What a difference a few weeks make, huh!?"
Fair Go reporter Brodie Kane has also posted a video of her on a green glideboard in the same office, stating: "Just cruising on one of these things at the office today."
It is not known whether TVNZ has banned the use of the devices in the newsroom since the accident.
Glideboards hit headlines earlier this year when rapper Wiz Khalifa reportedly refused to get off his glideboard when he was going through customs at Los Angeles International Airport.
He was pushed to the ground and handcuffed, later tweeting: "Haven't been slammed and cuffed in a while. That was fun".
