It's been 12 long year since The X-Files finished its nine-season run on television, but fans starved of supernatural crime shows will find plenty to love about Intruders.
From BBC America (who also developed the excellent Orphan Black), Intruders follows Jack Whelan, an ex-cop investigating his wife's mysterious disappearance.
His investigations lead him to a group called Qui Reverti, a secret society chasing immortality. It sounds creepy and The Hollywood Reporter agrees. "Spooky and riveting, Intruders is a paranormal thriller as addictive as anything on television," the reviewer wrote. "It sets the hook within minutes and never looks back."
There's more good news: the show's cast is full of classy actors, including Life on Mars' John Simm, True Detective's Tory Kittles and movie actress Mira Sorvino. And though Variety was less impressed - its reviewer said, "There's just not enough life in the concept" - it's developed by Glen Morgan, who worked extensively on The X-Files. Yes, X-Philes, it might be time to start using masking tape to put crosses on your windows again.
