They reunited last year and it's obviously still feeling so good that TrinityRoots are back for a show at the Powerstation on September 2.
Frontman Warren Maxwell says his time away from the group allowed him to gain a new appreciation of what he, bass player Rio Hunuki-Hemopo and drummer Riki Gooch had achieved with the release of two albums - True (2001) and Home, Land and Sea (2004) - and their renowned live shows.
"Like travelling away from New Zealand, you've got to do it to appreciate how beautiful it really is. It was the same for Trinity - I realised how special the songs and the band were to a lot of people," he says.
TrinityRoots will be joined for the show by Tyra Hammond & The Bluebirds. Pre-sales available July 19 (sign up at powerstation.net.nz). General tickets on sale July 21 from Ticketmaster & Real Groovy.
Meanwhile, K Rd is set to become B-Street on August 27 with the return of Auckland radio station 95bFM's multiple venue party featuring more than 20 bands.
The lineup includes Beastwars, The Checks, Street Chant, Scratch 22, Ghost Wave, F in Math, Popstrangers, The Transistors and more playing at Galatos, Whammy, the Wine Cellar, 4:20, Rising Sun, and in St. Kevin's Arcade. By the way, you need a B-Card to party.
Also, Japanese post-rock four-piece Mono bring their majestic sonic noise to the King Arms on October 1 with support from Hawkes Bay instrumental trio Jakob. Tickets available from undertheradar.co.nz and Real Groovy.
And local pop songstress Annabel Fay is heading out on a nationwide tour in celebration of latest album Show Me The Right Way starting on August 5 at Auckland's Backyard Bar, with dates at Stampede, Papakura, Aug 13; Salute Bar, Whangarei, Aug 18; and Juice Bar, Auckland, Aug 26.
