Tour news: Three concerts you need to attend

Fly My Pretties will fly to NZ once more with two dates announced for a brand new show called String Theory.

New Zealand's favourite Kiwiana music collaboration is back, for the first time in three years.

Yes Fly My Pretties will fly once more this August, with two dates announced for a brand new show called String Theory.

The 14-member cast will be announced in early June, but fans can get in early and start booking tickets tomorrow through Eventfinda, for shows at the Mercury Theatre in Auckland on Friday August 12 and Saturday August 13, and for shows at the Paramount Theatre in Wellington on Friday August 19, and Saturday August 20.

Barnaby Weir will be at the helm once more, and had this to say about the theme of the show: "Waves of energy surround us constantly. Our heartbeat sets the rhythm and our mind syncs in harmony with the frequencies of our existence at every point in time simultaneously.

Music expresses our emotions, and its gravity pulls us together and pushes us apart. This continuation expands like a ripple through the multiverse. String Theory will explore this realm of possibilities through musical storytelling."

Each show in this series will be filmed and recorded live to create the sixth album in the Fly My Pretties series, the first album since The Homeland Recordings was released in 2013, following an extensive 23-date tour of the nation.

The band has performed periodically, at festivals and at Auckland Zoo, over the past couple of years, but this will be the first brand new tour, with a new cast, new concept, and new songs.

It's also worth noting that there will be matinee performances in both Auckland and Wellington which will be open to children.

Also announced this week was a fresh New Zealand tour for exuberant American alt hip hop duo Twenty One Pilots.

Although they performed here to sellout crowds last month, they're already planning to return, with shows to be held at TSB Bank Arena in Wellington on Friday March 24 2017, and in Auckland at Vector Arena on Saturday March 25 2017.

And finally north London ska legends Bad Manners have announced they'll be coming back to New Zealand for an extensive six-show tour to celebrate 40 years together in October.

They play Bodega in Wellington on Tuesday Oct 18, The Cabana in Napier on Wednesday Oct 19, Totara Street in Tauranga on Thursday Oct 20, Altitude in Hamilton on Friday Oct 21, Kings Arms in Auckland on Saturday Oct 22, and Churchills in Christchurch on Sunday Oct 23.
