Tour news: The National, Taylor Swift, Bring Me the Horizon

The National are coming to New Zealand.

American indie rock kings The National have finally confirmed an Auckland concert date for the New Year.

The band's third visit in six years shows their rise: Having played the Kings Arms in 2008, then three nights at the Powerstation in 2011, this time the New York-based quintet will be playing at Vector Arena on February 4.

The venue will be configured to its reduced capacity free-flow mode, giving fans a choice between standing on the floor or seats in the lower bowl.

The band's sixth album Trouble Will Find Me went to No. 3 in the US charts when it was released in May, No 3 in Britain and No 2 in New Zealand.

Talking to TimeOut last month band frontman Matt Berninger said the group were happy to be returning.

"Were we're at a strange crossroads, figuring out what comes next, because we're in such a good place as a band. But we're very excited to be coming back to New Zealand."

Tickets go on sale via Ticketmaster and Real Groovy Records at 9am on Monday September 2.

Meanwhile, Taylor Swift's New Zealand shows are proving so popular the starlet has been forced to add a third Vector Arena show after the first two sold out.

Both shows on November 29 and 30 have sold out. Tickets for the new show, on December 1, will go on sale on September 5, with a pre-sale beginning on September 2.

Elsewhere, British metallers Bring Me the Horizon will perform a second show at Auckland's Powerstation after the first sold out in days.

The new show, on October 3, follows directly on from the sold out October 2 date. Tickets go on sale on August 28, with a pre-sale on August 27.
