Arizona metallers the Meat Puppets have apologised to fans after cancelling their upcoming New Zealand tour.
A press release issued this morning cited "potential immigration/visa issues" as the reason for the cancellation of their two-date tour later this month..
"It's with heavy hearts and many organisational nightmares that the Meat Puppets and organisers made the difficult decision to cancel their New Zealand dates coming up later this month," the statement said.
"Although every effort was made to reschedule the dates, unfortunately due to potential immigration/visa issues, playing the two dates in New Zealand could have jeopardised their upcoming Australian Tour and further touring plans.
"The band and organisers are gutted and send out heartfelt apologies to the Meat Puppets fans in New Zealand who had already purchased tickets. They also want to thank the amazing array of Kiwi bands that emailed for support."
Meat Puppets, who released their first album in 1982 but found new energy with last year's Rat Farm album, were due to play Wellington's Bodega on May 22 and Auckland venue The Kings Arms on May 23.
