US slowcore band Low, whose 2015 album Ones and Sixes appeared on many best-of-the-year lists, are returning to New Zealand for two dates.
The trio - fronted by the duelling voices of couple Mimi Parker and Alan Sparhawk - will play at Wellington's Bodega on April 1 and Auckland's Kings Arms the next evening.
Low is now in its 23rd year as a band, having released 11 albums of their hushed, moody minimalist songs, though on last year's album, they turned up the voltage with electronics, sub-bass and industrial textures appearing beneath Parker-Sparhawk's distinctive harmonies.
In recent years. Low's songs have been covered by Mavis Staples (Holy Ghost on her One True Vine album) and Robert Plant (Silver Rider and Monkey on his 2010 Band of Joy album).
The band have made previous visits in 2008 and 2010.
