Artists set to perform at the 2016 Laneway Festival.
Laneway's line-up for its 2016 festival is so good it's hard to pick who the headliners actually are.
Today's announcement confirms 33 names for the February 1 festival at Silo Park in Auckland, with DJ-producer Hudson Mohawke, Aussie dance guru Flume, Canadian singer-songwriter Grimes, rapper Vince Staples, electic rock act Battles and electro-pop acts Chvrches and Purity Ring topping the bill.
Also on the line-up are Beach House, DIIV, Goldlink, Health, Hermitude, High Dependency Unit, Metz, Shamir, Silicon, The Internet, Leisure, Tobias Jesso Jr and Violent Soho.
Rounding out the bill are Baynk, East India Youth, Fidlar, Groeni, Lontalius, Nadia Reid, Oscar Key Sung, QT, Rein, Scuba Diva, Sophie, The All Seeing Hand and Thundercat.
It's an impressive first announcement from the festival after a troubled few months that included doubts it would go ahead in Auckland after the Auckland Council denied organisers' application to host the event in the Domain.
After pitches from Wellington and Christchurch, the Council relented to letting Laneway have one last year at Silo Park.
With crowds swelling from 10,000 to more than 12,000 at its cramped waterfront spot, Laneway will need a find a new venue in 2017.
But with high-energy acts like Hudson Mohawke, Grimes, Chvrches, Vince Staples and Purity Ring performing, Silo Park is likely to have one hell of a send-off.
In keeping with Laneway's vibe of choosing acts on the rise, many released high-profile albums this year. Hudson Mohawke, a sometime confidante of Kanye West, released Lantern in June, the same month that Vince Staples' double-album debut Summertime '06 came out.
Chrvches will release their second album Every Open Eye on Friday, Battles third album La Di Da Di comes out this week, and Grimes has a new album slated for release by the end of the year.
Tickets for the Auckland leg of Laneway go on sale on September 30, with a pre-sale beginning on September 25 for Visa cardholders.
