She sold out a bunch of intimate venues when she was home in July to release her third album Blood to Bone, and now sassy, Devonport-born Gin Wigmore is returning to New Zealand for a comprehensive homecoming tour to kick off the summer.
The multi award-winning songstress with a penchant for eye-liner and skull rings currently lives in Los Angeles with her husband Jay Butler, the front man for hardcore punk band Letlive, and has been touring the US in support of Blood to Bone, winning over American crowds with her smoky voice, hearty on-stage banter, and exuberant dancing.
As the Boston Herald described after a recent show: "The small stage could barely contain Wigmore...she's like the girl at the prom who drank one-too-many Jack and Cokes and is in her own little zone, moving and grooving to the sounds."
Having had songs such as Black Sheep and Man Like That synced in major commercials and TV series in the US, Wigmore has been steadily building her audience in her adopted country, but when she last spoke to TimeOut she was very much looking forward to returning home to play for Kiwi crowds once more.
