Continuing to add to the attractions of music, great food, and kids activities, Auckland City Limits has now announced its artwork programme for the festival on Saturday, March 19 at Western Springs.
Even if you're not particularly involved or interested in the New Zealand art scene, there's no doubt art adds to the sense of celebration and stimulation of music festivals, so the effort ACL has gone to in attracting some high profile local artists to share their work in the beautiful park environment should be applauded. A highlight will be Ngahere, a new large-scale collaborative effort between noted artists Judy Darragh, and 2017 Venice Biennale representative Lisa Reihana (pictured) with architect Sue Hillary and designer Robin Rawstorne.
The programme also includes a mix of well-known names like sculptors Jeff Thompson, Louise Purvis and Aaron McConchie, mixed media artist Julieanne Eason, outdoor installation artists Angus Muir and Alexandra Heaney, textile and street artist Margaret Lewis, and environmentalist and textile artist Miranda Brown. Another collaborative group, LGOP - the Looks Good on Paper Collective - are bringing Zietsetz, a set of interactive structures, to the festival.
