Back to the Danger Zone: Tom Cruise classic Top Gun is being prepped for a cinema re-release in 3D, according to a report.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Tony Scott's 1986 blockbuster is being converted into 3D, for a potential 2012 re-release.
A four-minute 3D preview of the movie's iconic 'Danger Zone' sequence was shown at the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) in Amsterdam on Monday, says THR.
The film is apparently being converted by Legend3D for Paramount. Legend3D CEO, Rob Hummel, said at the event: "I think Top Gun lends itself to 3D due to the aerial flight. You can have fun with 3D by bringing things off the screen if they are not attached to the edge of the screen."
He added: "We think there is great potential for catalogue titles in 3D, but studios have had trouble justifying the expense."
