KEY POINTS:
SURVIVOR: FANS VS FAVORITES
When: 8.30pm, Thursday
Where: TV3
What: Fans take on their idols
Coming into its 16th season, the producers behind this hit reality series were scratching their heads trying to think up a fresh take on all that's gone before.
They were considering a second All-Stars edition but instead opted for putting a team of fans up against a team of past contestants. They figured there would be televisual magic in putting a tribe of newbies who were familiar with the tactics up against some hardened campaigners.
The two tribes will be marooned amid the Rock Islands of Palau, Micronesia, and, as ever, the person who can outwit, outplay and outlast the others wins. The Favorites tribe includes James Clement and Amanda Kimmel from Survivor: China, Yau-Man Chan from Survivor: Fiji, and three contestants from the Cook Islands season: flirty Parvati Shallow, devious Jonathan Penner, and challenge dominator Ozzy Lusth.
