THE MISSOURI BREAKS
Western set in Montana, with Jack Nicholson as the leader of a gang of cattle thieves, who seek revenge when one of their own is hanged by a wealthy rancher. The rancher has another trick up his sleeve - he's hired a manhunter (Marlon Brando) to stop the gang at any cost. Directed by Arthur Penn (Bonnie and Clyde, Little Big Man), it's a great film, tarnished by its inclusion on the American Humane Association's "unacceptable" list for cruelty to animals. (1975)
