Ariel Winter has sold her home in California after having to slash her original asking price, twice.

The actress who plays Alex Dunphy on Modern Family initially advertised her home for $2.23 million ($3,054,376.63 NZ) earlier this year in May and the price steadily declined until reaching the final settlement price of $2.1 ($2.8m NZ)million this past July.

The 19-year-old purchased her four-bedroom home in 2016 for $2 million which boasts a modest 3,200 square feet of living space.

Inside the open floor plan there is a wine cellar, wide-plank wooden flooring, four bathrooms, a big kitchen with a large centre island topped with quartz counters and even a butler's pantry.

The master bedroom has everything you would ever need with a big-walk in wardrobe, a bathroom with marble stall shower, a large bath and a wall of doors that open onto the lap pool and spa.

Winter decided to sell her house after recently purchasing a $3.4 million home in Studio City where she lives with her boyfriend of nine months.

"My boyfriend and I live together," she said on Jimmy Kimmel in May, "he cooks [and] takes care of all the handy stuff".

Winter also recently opened up about the 10-year age gap between her and boyfriend, Levi Meaden.

"I needed somebody who had a lot of life experience and who was at a point in their lives that they could take care of another person, but where I didn't have to take care of them," she told Maxim.

"Being with an older guy isn't always amazing, but I got lucky - I have an amazing guy who's super supportive and loving and is just an all-around wonderful human being."
