Lynn has refuted those rumours on Instagram.
She posted a video on Instagram, showing Spears surrounded by paparazzi around a decade ago during the singer's infamous mental breakdown.
"10 years ago, who was there?? I have been here long before anyone else, and I'll be here long after. I love my sister with everything I have," she wrote.
"So, anyone or anything that speaks to the contrary can GTFOH with all the comments about what you don't understand. Do not come for me or the ones I love anymore. You can move the 'blank' outta here with all that, just like this other lady who was running her mouth."
The "Hit me baby one more time" singer checked herself into a wellness facility at the beginning of the month.
Some fans question whether she is being held there against her will. A campaign called #FreeBritney started on social media and the star's mum, Lynn Spears, added fuel to the fire by liking some of the posts with the hashtag.
According to an insider who spoke to Fox News, the singer "felt that she needed to take some time to focus on herself". She has been caring for her father Jamie Spears who suffered a "life-threatening" colon rupture.
"Britney really felt that she needed to take some time to focus on herself … especially after seeing first-hand just how strong her father is and how hard he continues to fight each and every day," the source said.
She was spotted outside for the first time in weeks on Easter Sunday, during a "day trip" out of the wellness facility. She was with her boyfriend Sam Asghari and her dishevelled appearance was another cause of concern for fans.
