A trailer has been released for The Zookeeper's Wife, the latest movie from acclaimed New Zealand filmmaker Niki Caro.
The biopic stars Oscar nominee Jessica Chastain as Antonina Zabinski, a renowned author whose husband was the director of Warsaw Zoo in the 1930s. When the Nazis invaded Poland at the start of World War II, the Zabinskis used empty animal cages and their large villa to hide Jewish people and animals from the occupying force.
Daniel Bruhl co-stars as Lutz Heck, a Nazi scientist hired by Hitler to resurrect extinct animals. The trailer shows him as the main antagonist, investigating the zoo and endangering the lives of the Zabinskis and their guests.
The movie is adapted from the 2007 book of the same name by Diane Ackerman.
