Pranks, childrens videos and film parodies topped the charts of the most popular YouTube videos in New Zealand this year.

Taking out the number one spot for the top trending video of 2015 was an episode of the childrens' show Peppa Pig. The clip "Peppa Pig - 9 Episode Compilation 2", proved wildly popular with Kiwi kids and others world wide racking up more than 61 million views.

Second place was taken by "Silento - Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)", which featured four people dancing to the hit song.

Air New Zealand's Men in Black safety defenders video, which had almost 4 million views, took third place.

Top trending videos were based on the number of views, shares, comments and likes each clocked up.

Meanwhile YouTube's list of the top 10 music videos was topped by Wiz Khalifa with his song See You Again.

The rap star's single reached over 1 billion views worldwide in just six months while Adele reached the year's top 10 in just a few weeks for her hit single Hello.

Maroon 5 came in second with their song Sugar followed by Taylor Swift with her song featuring Kendrick Lamar Bad Blood.

The top 10 music videos collectively have more than 84 million subscribers, and these videos have collectively amassed more than 6 billion views in 2015.
