The release date of the next Maze Runner film has been pushed back to 2018 as its star, Dylan O'Brien, continues to recover from injuries sustained on set.
The Death Cure will be the third film in the young adult trilogy and was set for release in February 2017, before an accident during filming in which O'Brien fell from the top of a moving vehicle and was hit by another.
Filming shut down after O'Brien's accident, and the film's release date has now been pushed back nearly a year to January, 2018.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, O'Brien suffered a "concussion, facial fracture and lacerations", and while it was thought they would return to filming in time for the original release, his injuries were worse than first thought.
The first Maze Runner film pulled in about $519 million at the global box office, while its sequel - which opened a year later - made about $466 million.
