Moody American art-rock outfit The National is returning for one Auckland show.
The wintry-sounding Brooklyn band will be here at the height of summer, playing the Powerstation on January 12, having previously played in New Zealand in 2007.
The band is touring off the back of acclaimed and high-charing fifth
album High Violet.
Before recording that album, the band's Aaron and Bryce Dessner produced Dark Was The Night, a 31-track album to benefit the Red Hot Organization and which featured contributions from Arcade Fire, Bon Iver, Grizzly Bear, Yeasayer, and many others.
It has so far raised close to $US1,000,000 (NZ$1,355,442) allowing Red Hot to make donations to many AIDS charities, including an emergency grant of $150,000USD to Partners In Health in Haiti, after the earthquake.
