Had he not left the building on August 16, 1977, Elvis Presley would have turned 79 last week.
West Auckland marked the anniversary in style, hosting an Elvis in the Park event at Henderson's Cranwell Park.
The free event, which marked the American singer's birth on January 8 in Tupelo, Mississippi, featured six of New Zealand's finest Elvis impersonators with memorabilia also available to purchase.
Entertainer Brendon Chase from the North Shore was among those performing, while fans Che Orton (left) from Hamilton and Luke Fraser from West Auckland attended in their best Elvis-themed attire.
