The second trailer for the first film in The Hobbit series, An Unexpected Journey, has been released.
The two-and-a-half minute clip gives viewers a glimpse of what to expect in the first installment of Sir Peter Jackson's three part series, and includes familiar faces such as Gandalf, played by Ian McKellen, and Andy Serkis' Gollum, as well as Martin Freeman's Bilbo Baggins.
The release of the clip, nine months after the first theatrical trailer, was timed to coincide with Tolkien Week - the 75th anniversary of the release of JRR Tolkein's The Hobbit.
The Hobbit has been shot in 3D and at 48 frames a second, twice the speed traditionally used in films since the 1920s.
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey due to be released on December 14, 2012, with the second film, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, released December 13 next year, and the third film, The Hobbit: There and Back Again released on July 18, 2014.
