The estranged wife of alleged internet pirate Kim Dotcom, who has staked a $23 million claim over assets and cash caught up in the raid on the mansion the couple once shared, says she is safeguarding her children's future.
"I have filed legal papers because I want to make sure my children have some form of financial security. I'm fighting for my kids' future," Mona told The Diary.
"Kim and I are both moving on with our lives. But it's important to me that I look after the wellbeing of our children. I'm doing this for them."
In papers filed in the United States, Mona has launched a legal claim seeking half of everything seized in the 2012 raid. Her suit reveals details of Dotcom's extravagant spending, such as buying eight luxury vehicles in three months, including two Mercedes in one day.
Mona, 26, who walked out on her five-year marriage in May, has set up a happy, stable home for herself and her four children, Kimmo, Kobi and twins Kylee and Keera. They live in a modest four-bedroom townhouse with two puppies rescued from the SPCA.
