The Diary: Lorde praises flight attendant's Royals cover

She won the praise of Our Lorde with her cover of the international pop anthem Royals, and American Airlines flight attendant Robyn Shayne has also gained more than half a million YouTube followers.

The airline hostess, who lives in Austin, Texas, was persuaded to sing Lorde's Grammy-winning song by colleague Nick Stracener, who uploaded the clip to the video-sharing website last week.

And it caught the attention of the Kiwi pop star herself. "Robyn, I love you," Lorde tweeted, giving the singing flight attendant the Royals seal of approval.

Shayne, an aspiring musician with a self-titled EP out dedicated to her late brother, was thrilled with the endorsement.

"Thanks for the shout out," she replied. "Love you right back." Her American Airlines co-star is hoping the video will go viral and score her a record deal.
