1. It was a very Good Friday for Dan and Honor Carter, who celebrated the birth of their son, Fox. There's pressure on Richie McCaw now to name his firstborn Mulder.
2. Celebrations, too, for All Black Julian Savea and his fiancee Fatima Antaqi, who rang in their engagement party in Wellington on Saturday night with friends and family, and a very personal cake.
3. Teammate Malakai Fekitoa and his girlfriend Caroline McNaught stripped down to underwear and abs for a roll in Rotorua on the Zorb. There was ziplining too, and jet boat action. Who said Easter was about scoffing hot cross buns? Frankly, their Instagram pics are just exhausting viewing.
4. It was young love, too, for First Kid Max Key, who celebrated his six-month anniversary at Bethells Beach with girlfriend Amelia Finlayson, an aspiring beauty queen.
5. Former Warrior Kevin Locke saw the bunny side of Easter, posing with his fiancee Chelsea Pitman in matching pastel rabbit ears.
6. Kiwi actors hightailed it to Bali. Craig Hall and wife Sara Wiseman were joined by Home and Away stars George Mason and Jessica Grace Smith, and her Kiwi actor beau Benedict Wall.
Blatt in karaoke critic drama
X Factor judge Melanie Blatt has denied being rude to patrons singing karaoke at Auckland's biggest gay nightclub.
Miss Ribena, the drag queen alter ego of Kevin Dunseath, has criticised the former All Saints singer, labelling her "rude".
Miss Ribena was on the door on Sunday night as hostess when she met Blatt and her entourage.
She said she didn't recognise the former pop star at first but quickly made amends when it was pointed out a celebrity was in their midst.
"I said, 'Welcome darling to Family Bar. Join me for a complimentary drink inside.' But the look she shot me. She snapped: 'I don't need anything free from you'."
Miss Ribena added: "She was at the bar a few nights previously, this time during Camp Karaoke".
"She sat with her friends at the end of the bar and had her back to those performing on stage. She was making fun of the singers."
But a MediaWorks spokeswoman scotched suggestions Blatt had been rude.
"Mel Blatt has been to Family Bar but says she certainly hasn't been rude to anyone singing karaoke."
Keisha lobbied for new role
In an interview with the New York Post to plug the new Game of Thrones season, Keisha Castle-Hughes, who plays Obara Sand, said her career rise "doesn't happen to people where I'm from".
The Kiwi actress said her success in Whale Rider and Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith was the change.
"The tide really turned for me in terms of opportunities. This stuff doesn't happen to people where I'm from," she said.
And they didn't happen again. The Hollywood roles were less frequent. Game of Thrones is her biggest role in the last decade, and Castle-Hughes fought to win it.
"I campaigned with the series' London casting directors. I was definitely persistent." She also read the books, watched the previous series, and undertook training in the Chinese martial art wushu.
Dagg plays his AB card for a ticket
He may be a highly-paid footy star but he doesn't have a ticket to a pop concert - and he wants one. Badly. All Black Israel Dagg isn't above begging for tickets to Ed Sheeran's Christchurch concert tonight.
Dagg showed no shame in tweeting: "Can someone help me get two tickets to @edsheeran concert Wednesday night in Christchurch plllleeeeassseeee?? #edgroupie."
Twitter followers responded in kind. One told him to head to Trade Me where tickets are in supply.
Another suggested hitting up Dan Carter, who rubbed shoulders with the famous ginger at Elton John's party last year.
Then fortune stepped in. Sort of. The British pop star was on the same flight as the Crusaders team, and plucky Daggy saw his chance.
"So @edsheeran is on our flight back to Christchurch. Chances mate chances haha, #tickets," he tweeted with his fingers crossed for a freebie.
Sheeran and his publicists will no doubt see the All Black's shameless fanboy begging as a valuable PR opportunity and two passes will be made available. That's the currency of celebrity.
