Highlanders mates Elliot Dixon dressed as Batman, Nasi Manu as Wolverine, Joe Wheeler as Captain America and Buxton Popoali'i as the Black Power Ranger.
All Black Ryan Crotty went as a superhero, too, in skintight Lycra with what looked to be a mobile phone stuffed down his crotch.
Colin Slade was more respectable as regal Julius Caesar.
The lads posted a photograph to Instagram, generating plenty of attention.
Highlanders' media manager Amanda Gould refused to discuss the festivities.
"We don't like to talk about players' personal lives," she said.
However, another employee at the club told The Diary they were snubbed.

"Just some of the players went to the bachelor party, no one from Highlanders management went."
Smith (at right) and Menzies, 27, have recently returned from a pre-wedding vacation in Hawaii, following the All Blacks' end of year tour.
It is believed they have negotiated a deal with New Zealand Woman's Weekly for coverage of their nuptials for an undisclosed fee.
It is understood to be part of a three-pronged deal which included a pre-wedding story in July.
The couple, engaged since 2011, are reportedly planning a simple, elegant summer wedding with 150 guests. No superheroes invited.
Three's company
Gordon "Flash" McBride, the legendary Wellington TV3 bureau chief, retired from the network after 23 years, and his farewell party at Caffe L'affare saw a gaggle of TV3 hotshots fly down to celebrate.
Gordon "Flash" McBride.
Rebecca Wright, Amanda Gillies, Sam Hayes, Duncan Garner, Sean Plunket, Michael Morrah, Ingrid Hipkiss, Patrick Gower, Amanda Millar, Richard Langston, Stephen Parker and Janika ter Ellen - all mentored by McBride - were on hand to acknowledge the man who started as a journo at the Southland Times 46 years ago.
At the farewell for Gordon "Flash" McBride were (from left) Rachel Morton, Sia Aston, the PM's chief press secretary and a former TV3 staffer, and Sam Hayes.
Longstanding news boss Mark Jennings paid an emotional farewell, calling Flash "the conscience of the 3 News team".
Four of the year's most fascinating people
Mona Dotcom
A woman of few words, the 26-year-old mum of four prefers to let her actions do the talking. Namely, drive a golf cart in the middle of the night out of her Coatesville estate, and out of her marriage. Who knew she was so brave and plucky? She became a role model for all women who recognise they need to do what's best for them and what's best for their children. She kept her dignity, but left her material trappings behind and carved out a new life for herself, making her new home in a five-bedroom townhouse.
Sonny Bill Williams
It's been a monster year for this sports superstar - switching codes, getting married, becoming a father, moving across the Tasman, being selected for the greatest rugby team in the world, oh, and training for a boxing bout.
Lorde
Lorde's meteoric success and accolades have been well documented. Pure Heroine has had five million global sales and 1.4 billion global streams. It's the seventh-best-selling album on iTunes this year. But she chose to celebrate her 18th birthday at home with close friends and family.
Brendon McCullum
The Black Caps captain has taken a stand against corruption in cricket, and scored two double hundreds and a triple century this year.
But it was his kindness that caught our eye. Harvey, 6, and Sam Grono, 5, put two bats outside their house in honour of Australian cricket star Phillip Hughes, but one was stolen. McCullum heard their story and is sending them two signed bats.
