The Bachelor star may be TV's Mr Eligible, but his closest friends tell The Diary there's more to Arthur Green than a sexy smile, a red rose and a set of abs.
1. He has an extensive skivvy collection that would make The Wiggles envious.
2. He won't cuss. Instead his favourite swear word is "dog-biscuit". He uses it in place of "s***" when describing things, and has done so in some important meetings which has been awkward.
3. He likes using words of wisdom as a life mantra. Green makes co-workers at Clean Paleo - the company he runs with friends Ryan Kamins and Black Cap Mitchell McClenaghan - pick three "thought cards" out of a hat each morning. They say things like "go within", "appreciate self", and "let go of the past". Staff are supposed to think about the words and apply them to their day. But some are just creepy, with words like "touch", "sex" and "feel it".
4. He has a wide-brimmed leather hat that he wears only for drinking whisky.
5. He tried Tinder but it didn't work out.
6. He's an occasional fashion and runway model, and has been signed to Red 11 for five years. In 2012 he worked as an acting extra on the set of Spartacus as a Roman legionnaire, but got into trouble when he would mimic the director's voice and offer his own stage directions.
7. He went to a fancy dress party as a Goth ... and stayed in character all night by standing in the corner looking sad and talking to no one. For Halloween, he dressed as a ghost, complete with a ghost dog accessory.
8. He plays for the Reihana Razorbacks touch rugby team.
9. He loves the sound of girls brushing their hair. Seriously.
10. He enjoys inventing nicknames for people, and coming up with wacky challenges, such as "Shredvember" (shredding weight in November) and JanTanuary (seeing how sun-kissed he could get a couple of months ago).
Fast and Furious star raves over motorcycling in NZ
Brad Pitt told MP Judith Collins last year he wanted to take a motorcycle tour of New Zealand, but Hollywood action star Michelle Rodriguez has beaten him to the punch.
The 36-year-old Fast and the Furious star has been on a 10-day holiday here, and hit the road with two American friends to enjoy the countryside.
"New Zealand is the perfect staggeringly beautiful place to ride a motorcycle and stand on your head," Rodriguez posted on Instagram this week. "So refreshing."
She was in Mangawhai last Saturday, stopping at the Smashed Pipi cafe for a bite to eat. On Monday, she revved her way down to Tauranga, popping in for breakfast at the Alimento cafe.
Soul Bar at Auckland's Viaduct was the destination on Wednesday night, where she posed with fan Ngahuia Panapa.
Rodriguez has been staying at the SkyCity hotel while in Auckland, and flew out yesterday to Queensland.
She no doubt dropped in on Wairarapa while here to visit resident James Cameron, who directed her in the Avatar blockbuster.
Rodriguez will join the set of Cameron's next three films in the franchise, which will be filmed in New Zealand - thanks to a government screen production incentive.
Redundancy brings ticket to NY and a workshop
Former Prime News anchor Charlotte Bellis, who was made redundant by Sky TV earlier this year, is moving to New York.
Bellis leaves in three weeks for the Big Apple where she will take a short-term role at ABC World News. She has also paid US$975 ($1300) for a four-day workshop at Columbia University on reporting safely in crisis zones.
"It's good to have an Ivy League qualification," she told The Diary. "We will learn to tie a tourniquet and negotiate with hostages."
Bellis, who studied journalism in Missouri 10 years ago, said she was trying to look back on the redundancy as a positive experience.
Singer gives Slater some boxing tips
Hello Sailor frontman Graeme Brazier has penned a satirical ditty offering Whale Oil blogger Cameron Slater some boxing advice ahead of his Super 8 charity boxing match on March 28 in Christchurch.
Brazier, a confirmed Otago cricket man, is supporting former Black Cap Jesse Ryder in the ring.
In the video Brazier holds a book called How to Box within another book on endangered species. His words of advice include: "At the end of round bell return to the neutral corner - should you know the meaning of neutral."
Slater, who has lost 17kg in boxing training, scoffed: "Maybe Graeme should stick to music, not boxing."
