How revealing was I Am Cait's debut? Eli Orzessek tunes in to Caitlyn Jenner's new reality show.
1. Kylie Jenner first met Caitlin on a Facetime call
While discussing her transition with her mother and sisters, Caitlyn receives a Facetime video call from her 17-year-old daughter Kylie. She worries about answering the call and greets Kylie with: "I don't want to scare you ..." However Kylie, who's fresh out of the dentist and "kind of loopy", responds positively with, "You're not scaring me, you look pretty".
The pair meet for the first time in person later on and although Kylie thinks it will be "a little uncomfortable in the beginning", Caitlyn tries on one of Kylie's brightly coloured hair extensions and they're soon at ease.
Also meeting Caitlyn for the first time is her elderly mother, Esther. While she's been open about her gender issues with her sister Pam for 35 years, her mother was one of the last to know.
Seeing her son as a woman for the first time is clearly a shock for Esther. She tells Caitlyn, "I never guessed you were having a problem. You hid it very well," with the reality star responding that she was "a professional at hiding it".
While Esther says she thinks Caitlyn is a "very good-looking woman", she still struggles with using the correct pronouns and name for her newest daughter.
"It's going to be so difficult for me to think of you as she and say Caitlyn," she says through tears. It's something Caitlyn was expecting, acknowledging that, "My entire family has to go through this thing called 'transition'".
3. Kourtney, Khloe and Rob still haven't met Caitlyn
Not all of the Kardashians have met Caitlyn in person and she's happy to throw some shade their way. "Nobody's been to visit," she laments. "Not Kourtney, not Khloe, not Rob." While they've shown support publicly, it seems some of the kids need to put their money where their mouths are.
4. She checks her privilege
One of the criticisms directed at Caitlyn - particularly from those in the transgender community - is that her experience as a trans woman has been easier than most, due to her riches, fame and public platform.
Caitlyn addresses this in the first 10 minutes of I Am Cait: "People are dying over this issue," she says. "I feel a tremendous responsibility here, because I have a voice, and there are so many trans people out there who do not have a voice."
5. She considered suicide
While discussing the high rates of suicide in the transgender community, Caitlyn reveals that she also considered ending her life.
"I know how these kids can feel, I've had some very dark moments in my life," she says. "I've been in my house with a gun and said, 'Let's just end it right here'."
Later in the show, she visits the family of Kyler Prescott, a transgender boy who tragically took his life at the age of 14. After talking with Kyler's mother, she attends a moving memorial service for the teen on a beach in San Diego. Overall, Caitlyn Jenner has proved she's not all talk.
"What I want to do is create understanding so the next person doesn't have to be like me."
