Film director Terry Gilliam has suffered a stroke ahead of the Cannes premiere of his long-awaited film, The Man Who Killed Don Quixote.
As reported by The Guardian, the former Monty Python left hospital on the evening of May 8 and is recovering in London after the minor stroke.
The day after Gilliam was discharged, a French court ruled that The Man Who Killed Don Quixote could go ahead as the closing film of the Cannes Film Festival.
The film has been in the works since 1989, and has a reputation for being one of the unluckiest productions in recent history. Most recently, it has been the subject of a distribution disagreement.
Producer Paulo Branco made a bid on April 25 to stop the film's screening and French cinema release, and on May 8, Amazon Studios pulled out of US distribution.
