KEY POINTS:
As Jake The Muss he found worldwide fame after telling his wife to "cook the man some eggs" in Once Were Warriors.
Now Temuera Morrison will find himself on the other end of one of the best-known lines in Kiwi cinema to raise money for needy people.
The star has agreed to cook breakfast for the highest bidder as part of an online auction during the Auckland City Mission's winter appeal.
"I'll probably give them my breakfast special - last night's dinner warmed-up and some fresh eggs," said Morrison. "I'll cook any version - scrambled, poached or boiled."
Now in its third year, the auction boasts a star-studded line-up offering its time to raise money to help the homeless, poor and people with addictions.
Treats up for grabs include a round of golf with Marc Ellis, Karen Walker jewellery named after the winning bidder, a garden transformation by HomeSick's Hamish Dodd and a party arranged by TV and George FM host Clarke Gayford.
Morrison said he was quite prepared for his winning bidder to indulge in some Once Were Warriors role play. "They can abuse me," he said. "It will be part of the package."
With time on his hands since finishing his return to Shortland Street as Dr Hone Ropata, breakfast with Morrison will include cultural sightseeing and a visit to the hot pools in his hometown, Rotorua.
Just don't ask him about his Shortie storyline because Morrison doesn't have a TV. "I don't watch it," he said. "[But] I pull into McDonald's now and everyone thinks I'm a sleazeball."
The online auction starts on Tuesday at www.trademe.co.nz/acm.
Last year's winter appeal raised $260,000.
