Sources confirmed to the Herald that Swift, who skipped the American Music Awards on Monday to shoot her music video for Out of the Woods before the start of her Australian tour, is indeed in New Zealand.
She was reportedly spotted on Bethells Beach shooting the video on Monday afternoon by a fan who snapped a grainy photo of "a girl in a blue dress in the water".
On Tuesday, Newsworthy reporter Jesse Peach claimed to have discovered the Bad Blood star's whereabouts.
He tracked her to a West Auckland film studio, but didn't get an interview or nab any footage of the pop star.
Despite Swift maintaining complete silence across her social media accounts, other fans also claimed to have spotted her in West Auckland on Tuesday.
Swift's visit was also confirmed by Shortland Street star Ido Drent, who shared an Air New Zealand flight with the pop star.
He told TVNZ he talked to Swift outside one of the plane's toilets.
"Yeah, had a good chat to her on the plane outside the lavatory," he told TVNZ. "She's definitely here."
The Associated Press reported she was absent from yesterday's American Music Awards because she was "filming a new music video overseas".
The Sydney Morning Herald said Swift was due there on Thursday to also shoot a video in the Blue Mountains.
A rep for Universal Music, Swift's record label, said they wouldn't comment on the rumours.
Swift is due to start the Australian leg of her 1989 World Tour in Sydney on Saturday.
